conversation with an ankle-biter

a-b: You’re not an ankle-biter.

me: What’s an ankle-biter?

a-b: It means young child.

me: Are you an ankle-biter?

a-b: Yes!

me: Where’d you learn that?

a-b: It’s an Australian word. I read it in a Magic School Bus book.

me: When do you stop being an ankle-biter?

a-b: Maybe when I’m 18.

me: Did you learn any other words?

a-b: Fair dinkum. It means honest.

me: How do you spell that?

O he knew how to spell it too. I hope he’s as good with his art vocab!
