Two years later and I finally got a hold of Waiting for Superman…thank you @sarah2260. It was an interesting glimpse into education in the US and what some of the charter schools are doing. Through the film, I was thrilled to learn about Bill Strickland and the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild. Their mission is to educate and inspire urban youth through the arts. Here’s a Fast Co. article from 98 about him...an informative and inspiring longer read. His work in the Pittsburgh community has grown a lot since then as has the spread of Art and Technology educational centers. Exciting things being done through the National Center for Arts and Technology with replication centers in Cincinnati, San Francisco, Grand Rapids, and Cleveland. More are on their way.
